Willy Wonka

"i didn't particularly like this movie, considering how much i was looking forward to it, but tim burton at least did a bang-up job on wonka's costume and i was bent on re-creating it. lorne is my usual johnny depp guinea pig, of course, but this year he decided he was too 'portly' to be depp - not even as james barrie. i, on the other hand, was going to be edward scissorhands and i have 40d-sized breasts! steph had wanted to be a hippie this year, but we all knew she'd be a perfect wonka with her shoulder-length brown hair and slim build. and she was a good sport about it. my favorite parts of this costume are the cane and the hat - although the style of top hat wasn't perfect, both came out brilliantly. but i'd really like to have ingrid do one of sears' 'portrait studies' of this costume, which focuses on nine different elements. i do wish that we'd realized the collar wasn't raised, though, when the portraits were done."
