elf night 1999 lil as one of the hell's elves "every year, the administration staff of a number of lower mainland shopping centres would get together to celebrate 'elf night'.  we would all dress as elves and go from bar to bar, collecting money for charity.  we would get such characters as elfa fitzgerald, elfis, elfelfa, and so on.  this first year, i chose to be a helf's angel (i settled on 'hell's elves' later).  our escorts - and charity of choice - were the men and women of the west vancouver police torch run, and when they saw the insignia on my jacket they asked me to remove it.  they didn't notice that the hell's angels logo had been redone to have an elf with pointed ears in the centre, instead of a skull.  One of the cops and i went for coffee after, but he asked me to remove my stockings and put on his jacket first."
