halloween 2003 lorne as captain jack sparrow "lorne decided that he wanted to be captain jack, but i hadn't seen the movie yet.  so i went out and watched the movie and was fascinated - yet again - by what johnny depp could do with a character.  i made a lot of mental notes and then relied on the two-dimensional internet images for the rest.  i even drew on his tattoo with a calligraphy pen, the night before halloween.  i told lorne i'd need him to go to act i to get a beard, and he came back with a braid of brown crepe.  i had to glue each section of beard on in tiny patches, trimming it as i went.  when i was done, i created the two braids, covered the ends with tinfoil, threaded the beads on, and trimmed the ends.  all this before i was allowed to leave for work!" "incidentally, beaker won first prize at his office's costume contest, and captain jack won second prize."
